Terms of Service

Effective date: August 28, 2026

This is a courtesy translation. The Vietnamese version is the controlling version; in case of any discrepancy, the Vietnamese text prevails. Read the Vietnamese version.

These terms apply to the Semunio app on Slack, the semunio.com website and related support services.

Semunio is a tool that assists with Japanese–Vietnamese translation in Slack. Translation outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete; users need to check them before relying on them for professional, legal, financial, safety-related or other important decisions.

1. Acceptance of these terms and scope

By installing, accessing or using Semunio, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. In these terms, “Semunio” means the Semunio service. Semunio operates independently and is not affiliated with or sponsored by Slack.

If you install or administer Semunio for a Slack workspace, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and that you are responsible for notifying the relevant members in accordance with your organisation's rules.

If you are doing so on behalf of a company, a school or another organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms. In that case, “you” includes the organisation and the members who use Semunio in the relevant workspace.

2. How Semunio may be used

Semunio provides Japanese–Vietnamese translation in Slack together with features for managing Projects and Glossaries. The service should only be used in accordance with Slack's terms, applicable law and the access the workspace has granted.

For the duration of valid use, Semunio grants the workspace a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service for internal purposes under these terms. This right does not include the right to copy, resell, lease, exploit without authorisation, or attempt to extract the source code, models or components of the service.

You must not use Semunio to infringe the rights of others, to submit unlawful content, to attempt to circumvent quotas or the service's protective measures, to disrupt the service, or to access data or accounts without permission. Semunio may limit or suspend access to the extent necessary to protect the service and its users or to address a violation.

3. Content, data and privacy

You are responsible for the content you submit for translation and for ensuring you have the rights needed for Semunio to process it. Semunio processes the data needed to provide the service in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which sets out the types of data, the purposes, the providers, the retention periods and how to submit a request about data.

Uninstalling the app from Slack is not a refund request; it does not constitute submitting one. Slack-associated data and its deletion periods are handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy; the entitlement status of a paid plan is determined by the verified payment status.

You retain your rights in your content. You grant Semunio the non-exclusive rights needed to store, process and translate that content, along with related information, solely in order to provide, secure, support and maintain the service in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Semunio does not acquire ownership of your content.

Semunio may collect and use user email addresses to the extent needed for authentication, support contact, security or operational notices, plan management and transactions. Marketing messages are only sent where permitted by applicable law and with a suitable way to opt out; opting out does not apply to necessary transactional, security or service-change notices.

With the prior written or email consent of an authorised representative, Semunio may use a customer's name and logo on its website or in marketing materials to describe that customer's use of the service. A customer may withdraw that consent for future marketing activities.

4. Quotas and service plans

Quotas and plans belong to the Slack workspace, not to individual members. A quota counts only the source characters of translations that were delivered successfully; it does not count the characters of the output translation. Once the quota is used up, Semunio stops accepting new translations until the next period, or until the workspace is granted another valid entitlement.

The price, billing cycle and entitlements of each plan are published before payment. The cancellation and refund rights that apply to a transaction are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Semunio has no paid trial and no automatic overage fees.

Prices in USD are Semunio’s catalog prices. Direct bank transfers use the fixed VND price published before payment, not a conversion at a live exchange rate.

A paid plan does not renew automatically. A payment covers one defined period; when that period ends, the workspace returns to the Free plan unless Semunio has received and checked a further payment. If Semunio changes the price of, or materially reduces the entitlements of, a plan, Semunio will give at least 30 days' notice through Plan Center or another suitable means, and the change applies only to a period paid for after that notice.

An entitlement that has been paid for runs to the end of the period it covers. Semunio sets plan status and usage rights from the payment it has received and checked, and does not withdraw an entitlement already paid for because a further payment has not arrived.

Slack is an independent service and its use is subject to Slack's terms. Semunio takes payment directly and does not use a third-party checkout or subscription billing provider, so there is no third-party checkout, subscription or chargeback process between you and Semunio.

5. Availability and changes to the service

Semunio may carry out maintenance, make changes, or discontinue part of the features where necessary for operations, security or compliance with applicable requirements. If a material change affects these terms, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Semunio aims to run the service reliably, but does not warrant that the service or every translation will always be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, Semunio is not liable for damage arising solely from relying on a translation without appropriate checking.

6. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. If a dispute arises, please contact Semunio through the support channel to discuss and negotiate. Where a consumer requests negotiation, Semunio will accept the request and conduct the negotiation within the time limits set by Vietnamese law.

Consumers may use the dispute resolution methods permitted by Vietnamese law, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration or the courts. Nothing on this page excludes or limits the mandatory rights of consumers under applicable law.

7. Contact
